Tanay Rai

I’m Tanay, a first-year ISPS student, and I’m running to be your Outreach Officer for the coming academic year. I want Hindu Soc to build stronger connections beyond just its core membership and events. Outreach can be key to strengthen the connections of Hindu Society to other cultural societies and also give our members real opportunities both in an academic context and social.

Through UCL MCC, I helped expand engagement by launching Chicken Shop Dates interview reels, which moved from internal content to featuring members from other societies, increasing cross-society visibility and starting new collaborations. I’d bring that same outward-facing, relationship-driven approach to Hindu Soc. I’m also involved in Debating Society and Law Society, where I’ve seen how guest speakers and structured networking events can genuinely benefit members, and I want to introduce more of these events to Hindu Soc.

These are just a handful of things I will do as your Outreach Officer:

        •  Organise networking events with Hindu professionals across law, finance, and tech

        •  Invite guest speakers to share career journeys, identity experiences and leadership insights

        •  Collaborate with other faith and cultural societies for joint panels and socials

        •  Partner with academic and careers societies for professional development events

        •  Build alumni connections to create informal mentorship opportunities

Mayur Apte

I believe I would work well as Outreach Officer of UCL Hindu Society as I enjoy working with people and fostering connections that help organisations grow. UCL Hindu Society represents an important cultural space on campus, and I would like to contribute by helping improve relationships with external partners and other universities, whilst aiding the organisation of major events. My experience working on start-ups has developed my ability to communicate expertly with a wide array of people. As Co-Founder, I presented our ideas to seed investors and worked directly with customers. Attending trade fairs and pitching our projects required confidence, organisation, and adaptability, all of which would be valuable when coordinating with photographers, videographers, DJs, and other collaborators for society events. Alongside this, leading my school’s Economics Society refined my teamwork and planning skills. Working closely with a committee to organise activities and increase participation taught me the value of communication and reliability when working toward objectives. These experiences have prepared me to work effectively with different parts of the committee and help ensure events run smoothly. As Outreach Officer, I would focus on building a reliable network of external partners so that the society has trusted photographers, DJs, and collaborators available for events and aim to bolster relationships with other Hindu Societies to support more joint events and collaborations.

Shreeya Rughani

Hi! My name is Shreeya and I am studying Chemistry with maths! I believe that I am a suitable candidate for this role, as I have professional communication skills and organisational skills. I have had experience with working and liaising with businesses. As, as a previous head girl, I played a huge role in organising a successful Sixth Form prom. In that role, I had to negotiate with businesses, DJ’s, photographers and venues, to get the best price and best packages for the year group. Through this role as head girl, I have enhanced my leadership skills and teamwork skills, as well as furthering my negotiation skills. Throughout my life, I have worked for charities, such as St Lukes Hospice, which has allowed me to see how they work. Being a part of drama productions and concerts, I have been able to see how they work behind the scenes. Through this role, I will ensure that the UCL Hindu Society gets the best sponsorships and deals, such as DJ’s for major events or businesses for student discounts, so that we can minimise cost and so we are able to plan many more amazing events. I will ensure that plans are made effectively before dealing with businesses. In this role, I would hope to liaise with many more businesses and charities. For example local temples, to partner with for the food sevas, and other food businesses like Sakonis for our events. In conclusion, through this role I aim to find more ways to support UCL Hindu Society to celebrate our religion and culture.

Shaurya Madan

I would like to apply for the role of Outreach Officer for Hindu Society. One of the things I appreciate most about HSoC is the way it brings people together through culture, events, and community. Being part of the Rangeela Showcase showed me how impactful these events can be, and it made me interested in helping expand the society’s reach and engagement across the wider university community.

As Outreach Officer, I would focus on building stronger connections both within UCL and externally. I believe there is real potential to enhance the scale and quality of events like Rangeela through wider outreach to companies, organisations, and other societies to boost publicity and to promote Hsoc events to a wider range of audiences. Establishing more external relationships could create opportunities for greater collaboration, resources, and exposure, ultimately making the experience better and smoother for both performers and audiences.

I am enthusiastic about communication, collaboration, and bringing people together. In this role, I would aim to strengthen HSoC’s network and ensure the society continues to grow its presence while creating opportunities that enhance the events and initiatives it delivers. I would value the chance to contribute to expanding the society’s reach and impact.
