Wren Clarke

Hiya, I'm Wren Clarke, and our Hiking Club is the best thing that has happened to me since starting at UCL!

So, why should you vote for me?

  • I am a keen mathematician
  • I am resilient, reliable and incredibly hard working
  • I will show up for you, holding the welfare of members as the highest priority
  • I am a team player, I will support other committee members however I can
  • I have experience in leadership from scouts and the Hiking Trip Team
  • I have strong time management skills
  • I genuinely care about the club
  • I am friendly and outgoing, I love a chat

I have lots of plans for what I would do if I am elected treasurer; the major one is a promise to sort reimbursement forms weekly on a set day so Walk Leaders have a greater confidence in when they will be refunded.

If you see me out and about, come and have a chat! :)

🏔️ Hi Hikers!

I’m excited to be running for Treasurer.

While it might not be the most visible role, the Treasurer is  vital to keeping the club financially strong, sustainable, and able to do the things we love. Behind every residential, every subsidised walk, and every piece of club kit is careful planning and organisation and I’d love to take on that responsibility.

Previously, through organising a 300+ attendee Model UN conference, I worked closely with my school finance department to set budgets, monitor spending, and keep the event within cost. I’d bring that same organisation and accountability to UCL Hiking.

My priorities would be:

💷 Financial Strength & Sustainability

  • Maintaining clear, organised budgeting
  • Ensuring the club remains financially secure long-term
  • Making sure our funds are used effectively and most importantly transparently

🥾 Supporting Walk Leaders

  • Efficiently managing travel reimbursements
  • Ensuring Walk Leaders are supported for the time and effort they give

🎒 Equipment & Merchandise Oversight

  • Keeping track of club equipment and setting up an equipment borrowing system
  • Organizing and managing merchandise

🤝 Sponsorship & Event Costing

  • Manage financial logistics of sponsorships
  • Helping the club grow through external partnerships
  • Managing grant applications

As a current committee member, I understand what goes into each hike. As Treasurer, I’d hope to focus on keeping UCL Hiking organised, sustainable, and financially strong.

🏔️ Thank you for your

Slava Bulin

Hi All! I've been your Treasurer this year - and I'd love to do it again!

Alongside managing the club's finances, I've consistently processed Walk Leader reimbursements (filling out around 200+ forms!) and secured additional funding through successful grant applications - helping deliver unique events like the Climb the O2 Social and keeping residentials capped at £125.

But I have so many more ideas that I would like to introduce for next year:

  1. ⛰️ Residentials: UK & Abroad

With my experience and knowledge of how much the club spends each month on socials, weekend hikes, residentials and more, I can budget smarter and free up funds for more residential trips abroad - especially in Term 1 (so that we can escape the winter weather)!

🥾Think Slovenia, The Azores and Finland!

I'll also continue to ensure that ticket prices for the residentials remain as cheap as possible, maximise the value of your membership, and introduce a 5% discount for those new to residentials!

  2. ⛺ Equipment:

Ready to join our residentials but don't have all the equipment - I'll have you covered!

Over the last year, I've upgraded the club's resources and want to introduce an equipment loaning system for next year so that you can borrow tents, bags, headtorches, and more, with no additional cost!

🥾I’ve outlined just a few ideas about how I hope to improve the club, and with your support I hope to implement them with the next committee and continue the success we have achieved this year!
