Hiking Club: Media Officer

Helloooo!! I’m Jess your current Media Officer, and would LOVE to serve you for another year in UCL’s Biggest Club!! 📸👩🏼‍💻🩵 

You might have seen me on a bunch of hikes as a Walk Leader, as well as helping run all the media platforms, Tiktok, Instagram etc! 👀

So what would I do differently this year??

• More constant TikTok and Instagram vlog content- what do we really get up to on our hikes? Let’s continue to capture the spirit of our club… even the moments where you fall in the mud 👀🫡
• More creative content! Our members have taken THOUSANDSSS of amazing photos over the past year, and I’d like to put them to good use! 🎨✏️🖍️
• Let’s *create a virtual scrapbook*, accessible to all members to review all the incredible memories we’ve made! 🏞️
• Photos of the month! Gains reward for your incredible photos, therefore I’d love this to become a regular feature on our social media platforms! 🗓️📷
• More hike update stories on Instagram! (@uclhiking) These have been super popular- SO…. I want to bring everyone along on our hikes, increase our outreach and help to further grow the club virtually! 📈🤩

I have loved every minute of being a part of the Hiking Club committee this year plus meeting a ton of new faces who have joined the community! This role means so much to me.

I am standing for the Media Officer position because I want to combine my deep-seated passion for the outdoors with my creative expertise to elevate our club’s visual presence. Hiking is more than just a hobby for me; it is a lifestyle that I have actively documented throughout the past year. By taking on this role, I aim to transform our collective memories into professional-grade content that resonates with both current members and a wider audience.

Proven Dedication to Hiking: I have participated in 8 single-day treks so far, and got some memorable experiences. They have given me a first-hand understanding of the club’s spirit and the unique beauty of our trails.

Visual Storytelling Expertise: I have a strong passion for photography and a keen eye for capturing the "perfect shot" in nature, ensuring our club's activities are documented with high aesthetic standards.

Content Creation Skills: I am proficient in developing diverse portfolios, ranging from eye-catching promotional posters to engaging short videos that highlight the highlights of our journeys. (More on natural views than participating hikers)

Aesthetic Curation: I maintain a curated collection of background music (BGM) and editing styles specifically suited for outdoor content, ensuring our digital media is always atmospheric and professional.
