Through the FemTech & Women’s Health Society, I want to empower students at UCL to challenge gender inequality in health and medicine. By bringing together students, researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs, the society can play an important role in improving health outcomes for women and underrepresented genders.

As President, I want to strengthen the society as a hub for education, innovation, and advocacy, where members can engage critically with women’s health and explore the growing FemTech sector.

Many topics regrading women's health remain poorly understood or openly discussed. I want the society to create space for learning and open conversation through:

  • Expert speaker events with clinicians, researchers, and FemTech founders
  • Workshops and panel discussions on overlooked women’s health topics
  • Collaboration with UCL departments to connect members with current research

I also want to help members explore opportunities in FemTech by organising:

  • Startup and innovation events with founders and investors
  • Hackathons or idea incubators focused on women’s health challenges
  • Networking opportunities with industry professionals and UCL alumni

I hope to build a welcoming, supportive community through inclusive events to raise awareness of women’s health inequalities.

Women’s health deserves greater attention, innovation, and advocacy. As President, I will work to ensure the society continues to grow as a platform for learning, collaboration, and meaningful impact.

Emma Kelsey

Hi! I’m Emma and I would love to be your new Women’s Health President. I’ve got big shoes to fill from Abbie, but here goes!

I’m a 1st year student and, alongside my passion for women's health, I love running, walking my dog and exploring London! My aim is to work in women's health one day so finding a society that cared about women's health as much as I do at Freshers Fair was unreal -  I joined instantly! I've loved every event this year and this society has quickly become one of my favourite parts of Uni life - from pub quizzes to lectures!

As President, I will be organised, reliable and genuinely committed to listening to your ideas and feedback. I’ll run regular social events, ensuring that there is something for everyone! Ranging from a coffee and croissant run club, to talks, picnics and pub trips! I am keen to make and build connections in this society, not just with eachother but with other universities too because women’s health is close to all our hearts - from menstrual care, to contraception. We each have our own story. I want this society to remain a safe space where we empower, learn and support one another.

This society made UCL feel like home, especially through the friendships I’ve made. It’s small but mighty and truly is a family. I would be honoured to oversee the growth and flourishment of this society and give back what it has given me in my first year here.

I’ll work hard to make this society one of the best there is at UCL - because it deserves to be.

Freya Briggs

Hi FemTech and Women's Health Society members! My name is Freya, I am currently on a Study Abroad year at the University of Toronto, and I am applying for the position of President of the society for my return to UCL for 4th year.
To say that I am simply passionate about the improvement and advocacy for women's health and healthcare feels like an understatement - and for that exact reason I was one of the founding members, and initial co-presidents, of the FemTech and Women's Health Society in my second year. Unfortunately we were not able to get the society up and running properly last year, so if given the opportunity and the privilege of heading the society next year, I would be fully and passionately committed to the further development of the society. I would strive to ensure the meaningful impact of this fantastic society continues to grow, and more and more (long-overdue) attention is drawn to both the exciting new developments, as well as the historical and persisting short-comings and neglect of women's healthcare. I would maintain the momentum and ensure the continued growth of the society through the implementation of several new initiatives and further developments of current ones.
Abbie and her committee have done such an incredible job with this society in just its first year of establishment, it would be my pleasure to continue the good work and lead the FemTech and Women's Health Society towards even more exciting things which the future holds. Thank you! :)
