I’m applying for the role of Editor-in-Chief for Delilah because I really enjoy both writing about music and helping shape and edit other people’s work. I especially love live music, I’m always at gigs, and I think that energy and excitement is what makes music writing so interesting.
I’ve written for Delilah before as well as for other UCL magazines, and I’ve really enjoyed being part of a space where people can share their opinions on music, gigs and the wider scene. I study BA Creative Arts and Humanities, which is a very writing-heavy course, so I’m constantly working with different types of writing and thinking about how pieces are structured, edited and improved.
Alongside that, I have editorial experience from working with a small newspaper, and I’ve also done publishing work experience, which gave me a good insight into how editing and managing content works in practice.
As Editor-in-Chief, I’d be really excited to bring together lots of different voices and music tastes within the magazine, whether that’s gig reviews, opinion pieces or features. I’m organised and really passionate about writing and editing, and I’d love to support contributors while helping keep the magazine creative, consistent and fun to read.
Thank you for considering me!

Hey everyone, I'm Nicole and I'm re-running for editor in chief!
Delilah has been a huge part of my life the last two years - I've loved reading all your pieces and bringing everyone's ideas together. I'm so proud of the community that we've built over the years and the incredible prints and online presence we've been able to create. Working with you all has been so much fun and I feel that I've gotten to know the ins and outs of Delilah super well by now! There are so many great things from the past few years which I'd love to be able to continue in the future, and incorporate and expand on new ideas too - I'm passionate about keeping Delilah a space where everyone can share their ideas and showcase their work no matter whether this is your first or your fiftieth piece!
As some of you might already know, I love both going to and playing gigs and I'm always up for live music. I think that music journalism is important and super interesting, and it's been amazing to learn so much about new music and artists through this role. I'd love the opportunity to continue as EIC next year and keep building on everything we have created so far :)
Hey, I'm Charlotte, and I'd love to be Delilah's editor-in-chief next year! One of the things I love most about Delilah is how encouraging and welcoming the writing community is—the committee were always so kind, eager and excited when I would write for the magazine or online section—which has undoubtedly shaped me into a better, more confident and creative writer. As such, I’d love to become editor to continue this encouraging, friendly atmosphere, help others realise their writing/creative potential, and overall create a phenomenal collection of magazines and online articles!
I also have some ideas to develop Delilah, specifically the print magazine, such as creating a more cohesive, collaborative theme across each magazine (while still allowing for everyone’s creativity and individuality), creating more recognition and celebration for the work of writers and artists (e.g. stylised headshots at the back of the magazine for contributors; wrap party for contributors at the end of each magazine), and working closer with other music societies at UCL (e.g. writing reviews of music performances; interviews with UCL artists, etc.). I think it would also be a good idea to have more collaborative writing sessions when the magazine deadline is coming up, so maybe we could hold late night writing sessions together in cafes, or something akin to that, and therefore create more community and collaboration between our writers and across our society!
