Chiyo Ngai

Sick of reading through long, dull reports on recent criminal justice and policy changes? I can fix that.

  • As public affairs officer, I would continue the monthly CJS newsletter filled with succinct and interesting case summaries, developments in the legal sector, and any other upcoming policies or events worth noting, all in a digestible, emailed-to-you, newsletter! I promise to make our newsletters highlight a neutral, critical, inclusive and exciting point of view towards highly relevant social justice issues.
  • Aims for this year: I am to continue the monthly CJS newsletter, but start with weekly/ monthly podcasts as well as more social media content. There will also be more society collaborations.
  • Why I’m qualified for this job:
    • I’m currently part of the CJS publications committee, and have experience managing my highschool’s yearly newsletter, ensuring that I have both the ambition and the capability to be your public affairs officer. Working as company stage manager in Bloomsbury theatre shows have also strengthened my leadership skills, and allowed me to develop a leadership style that is efficient and features open, honest discussions.
  • Wild card: I make sick banana bread. Hopefully that can accompany you when enjoying CJS’ publications? Other than catching some much needed zzz, you’ll often find me drawing while listening to video essays.

Thank you for reading through my introduction, please vote for me, Chiyo Ngai as your Public Affairs Officer!
