Network committee members actively support Student Officers that convene their network, and assist with the over-all decision making processes within the network.

The Secretary shall:

  • Take accurate notes of forum proceedings and circulate those notes after the forum.
  • Support the Student Officer in the production and circulation of agendas.

To vote for this position, you must self-define as a commuter student.

Candidates

Brice Cheung (he/him)
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

My advanced skillset refined from COVID-19 to today - where I have unlocked:

  • My 165wpm on monkeytype.com (please sponsor me) - the speed on these fingers tapping away at my laptop: NO details will be missed in meetings
  • My witchy piano fingers - read above again ^^ 😝😝
  • My battles with the Faculty of Life Sciences - I've been advocating during SPCs, with experience organising Bioscience society meetings / events - I will always turn up for a good fight for advocacy
  • My humble retirement from Anatomy Society as Secretary - I've already been managing deadlines and keeping detailed records (source: me)
Vote for Brice that'd be nice
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Assuming the Victoria line doesn't arrest me again at Seven Sisters for an hour, I hope as your secretary I can:

  • Support accessible systems - I'd love to organise hybrid meetings and digital archives, ensuring that as commuters, members of the Commuting Network Committee are not excluded from decisions due to travel constraints (this is so meta ☠️☠️)
  • Streamline communication - I can ensure accurate documentation, where recurring issues will be tracked to build evidence for policy changes
  • Advocate for commuter-specific resources - storage facilities, more quiet spaces, travel cost support, etc.
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am a victim of Greater Anglia and the Victoria line / Northern line (I blame my parents for settling in Cambridge); I understand the commuter student life firsthand.

  • I have the organised experience, I will advocate for commuter-specific needs (even if I'm sometimes a 1.5 hour train away)
  • I'm reliable and efficient - and I will show up even during delays (assuming I get my delay repay back pls)
  • I will make documentation work for the network (ooh that rhymeee badum tsssssss)
