As vice president of the society, my goal is to expand our outreach by collaborating with other societies. I am committed to supporting our members' well-being by providing a welcoming environment where everyone can easily share their concerns, whether academic or non-academic, and connecting juniors with seniors. I aim to plan more inclusive and engaging events through close coordination and open communication with fellow committee members.
Although our society is small, I am dedicated to building a close-knit community where everyone feels comfortable and enjoys their time with us. I cannot wait to work with my future committee members and create unforgettable memories together! I look forward to serving as your vice president next year. See you in the upcoming year.
Being Burmese at UCL means carrying a culture that deserves to be seen, celebrated, and proudly represented — and that is exactly what I intend to do.
I am not running simply to hold a title. I am running because I believe the UCL Burmese Society has untapped potential, and I want to be the person who unlocks it. Having served as a Student Representative in high school, I know what it takes to stand up for a community, amplify voices that often go unheard, and turn ideas into action. My internship as a Healthcare Assistant further sharpened my ability to stay composed, organised, and dependable when it matters most.
As President, I will bring bold leadership and a clear vision — building a society that every Burmese student at UCL is proud to be part of. As Treasurer, I will handle our finances with precision and transparency, ensuring every penny works towards creating real value for our members. As Event Organiser, I will craft experiences that go beyond ordinary gatherings — events that genuinely celebrate our heritage, spark connections, and leave lasting memories.
I am running for Vice President of the Burmese Society because I want to take a more active role in supporting the society and the wider Burmese community in London. Over the past year, serving as 1st Year Rep has given me valuable insight into how the society operates and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into running it. However, my involvement in this role has been somewhat limited, mainly helping with social media posts and brainstorming ideas, but it gave me the chance to observe how the committee works and motivated me to take on a bigger role next year.
Before coming to UCL, I was heavily involved in leadership in high school through Student Council, where I served as both VP and Treasurer, while also captaining the touch rugby team and leading several student clubs. Through these roles, I gained experience in leading teams, managing responsibilities, and coordinating school-wide events. Also, my role as 1st Year Rep in the UCLConsulting Society has given me insight into how committees work in other societies.
If elected, I hope to strengthen connections between Burmese students at UCL while also sharing and celebrating our culture across the wider UCL community. I would also like to collaborate with other societies through cross-cultural events and work with Burmese societies at other universities to build a stronger network of Burmese students across the UK.
Ultimately, I hope to be more involved in the society and help shape its direction moving forward.
