Election post
I’m running for President of the Burmese Society because this society has always given me a sense of home and familiarity in a place that can sometimes feel far from both. It’s where I can speak my language freely and talk about things that most people at university can’t fully relate to — our shared experiences, humor, traditions, and culture. The Burmese society was actually the first society I looked up when I found out about UCL’s societies.
I want to represent my culture at a greater level than I am doing right now, and I believe the President role will give me the platform and responsibility to do that. I’m committed to building on the incredible work of previous presidents and committee members, strengthening what already makes our society special while bringing fresh ideas to the table. Most importantly, I want every member to feel welcomed, proud, and excited to be part of our community, as I was on the day I showed up at my very first event of the society. My goal is to make the experience of being in the society not only meaningful, but genuinely fun and memorable for everyone.
