Election post

This year, I have held the positions of Gymnastics President, Netball Events Secretary, and Netball Captain. I can confidently say that each of these roles has taught me transferable skills such as leadership, organisation, and advocacy which would benefit the position of sports rep. Through both being a member of, and on the committees of these two clubs, I have an insight into how sports clubs run at UCL. I feel that I would be able to adequately advocate for smaller developing clubs, and more established clubs that have such a huge effect on student life at UCL.
I would love to bring even more focus to campaigns at UCL to get students involved in sports. My time at UCL would have been vastly different without the impact of TeamUCL, and through campaigns like Project Active, I believe there is even more scope to get people involved. A huge number of students attend Scala, and the focus of Sports Night could be more closely aligned with members of sports clubs at UCL; an earlier released ticket for sports clubs (as we all know how allusive those £3 tickets are...) would allow TeamUCL sports club easier opportunities for Wednesday night socials.
Sport has shaped my time at UCL, and I want to represent students to ensure TeamUCL is as inclusive and impactful as possible. With experience in two very different clubs, I understand both challenges and successes within TeamUCL. I will advocate for initiatives that enhance participation, accessibility, and club experiences. Whether you’re a dedicated athlete, or looking to make some new friends through sports clubs, I’ll work to make sport at UCL welcoming, rewarding, and fun for everyone.
