What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

If elected as Disabled Students' social secretary, I will support the Officer with leadership tasks, establish support networks and peer mentorship programs, and enhance communication between the Officer, the student body, and university administration. I will actively listen to suggestions from fellow students to improve future plans and inclusivity for disabled students. I am committed to helping ensure that everyone's voice is heard, and I am excited to contribute to a more inclusive and supportive community!!

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As someone with a disability that affects my ability to process information as quickly as the average person, I have gained unique insights into the daily barriers faced by disabled students. Despite these challenges, I have actively participated in my community and earned accolades such as the CREST science award, NCS, and DofE. I firmly believe that individuals with disabilities should have the same opportunities and experiences as others without being limited by their health conditions.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am a bright and friendly individual who loves meeting new people and discussing any problems they may have. As someone who lives with an auditory processing disorder, I have firsthand experience of the challenges faced by disabled students. I am passionate about advocating for a more inclusive and supportive environment for all. As a previous mental health mentor for anxiety in an initiative called Empowering Girls,  I will ensure that everyone's voice is heard and to improve everyone's experience with my strong communication skills and dedication.
