Izaak Laskey

I have been part of the society as a proud Welshman since joining UCL in 2021. Having grown up in London to Welsh parentage, I believe that I represent 'Cymru yn Llundain' very well and would love to assimilate the society to the wider Welsh community here. I am a massive sports fan and would be keen to organise more events around that - being hopeful that a young Welsh rugby side will build on this year and be more successful in the 2025 6N; and give us something to get behind together. Having begun to learn Welsh this year, I would also be keen to work with others to continue this throughout the society to allow people to connect to home, be it through learning from scratch as I did or still having the chance to speak it with others as though back at home. I would also like to employ a Brian Flynn style recruitment strategy, asking anyone and everyone if they have a Welsh connection to grow the society as much as possible and share our unique stories of that little place we all are so lucky to call home.

Catrin Duff

Hi, I'm Catrin from Ammanford.

You may recognise me as the Welsh Society Treasurer for the past two years. This year I would love to give more of my efforts to the Welsh Society as the President.

The Welsh Society was very important for me in my first year at university. Many freshers from Wales may feel lost during their first few weeks and I want to continue to provide some home away from home and instant friends for all of them here at UCL.

The past two years I have loved planning and attending pub crawls, rugby at the pub and coffee mornings. This year I hope to bring even more to you all. With good friendships and connections made with both Kings, LSE and Queen Mary Welsh Societies, hopefully we can bring you bigger and better socials. I also have a couple of speakers in mind that I would love to bring to talk with all our members.

Diolch, Catrin
