Abdullah Emin Demirci

As a dedicated member of the UCL Turkish Society, I am honoured to nominate myself for the position of Welfare Officer for the upcoming academic year. I am currently a first year BSc Management Science student and have been deeply involved in the Turkish Society throughout this year by participating actively in cultural events, social networking gatherings, and initiatives aimed at enriching our members' experiences.

My primary motivation for becoming our next Welfare Officer is to ensure that everyone in our society feels supported, both emotionally and academically. Given that many of us are navigating our academic journeys far from our hometowns and comfort zones, securing external assistance becomes even more crucial. Accordingly, I plan to introduce a series of activities, including peer support programmes, to promote well-being and resilience.

My goal is to contribute to creating a tight-knit community where support and opportunities to get involved are always within reach. As a Welfare Officer candidate, I am passionate about making our society a place where everyone feels at home and supported, even though many of us are away from our actual homes.

I love my country and am thrilled about the opportunity to contribute more significantly to our society as your Welfare Officer.

Together, I believe we can build a more inclusive, supportive, and vibrant Turkish Society at UCL.
