As a prospective candidate for the position of Welfare officer for the Tamil society, I represent a dedication to building a welcoming and encouraging community. My commitment to the well-being of our members stems from an understanding of the challenges individuals may face, and I would like to implement initiatives that prioritise mental health.
My empathetic nature allows me to connect with others on a personal level, making me an approachable figure for those seeking support. Through active listening and open communication, I aim to create a space where members feel comfortable expressing their concerns and sharing their experiences. One idea is introducing drop-in sessions where individuals can choose to speak to a committee member if they have any concerns. I am dedicated to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the society, ensuring that every individual feels valued and accepted.

Hi, my name is Janujan and I would like to apply to be Welfare Officer. I firmly believe that mental wellbeing is essential to having an enjoyable experience at uni. Through my own experiences, I understand that the change in environment and meeting new people can be pretty daunting, so I aim to promote openness within the society and the Tamil community. I have had discussions with many individuals who are struggling with their mental health, and I have learnt a lot about ways to make people feel at ease. Therefore I believe I can be an approachable and trustworthy person for anyone who wants advice or reassurance.
