I have loved being a part of Medieval Society and would love to be a part of the committee in my third year.
The events this year have been great, and I would like to work to make them even better. As events officer, I would organise more events out in London. These would include: museum trips, visits to historic sites, and pub socials.
With so many other interesting societies at UCL, it would be amazing to collaborate with them too. A crossover with History Society would be good fun and encourage more History students to join.
As your events officer, I would love to help show everyone how cool Medieval Society is!

Hi everyone,
My name is Virgile Darmon, I am a student in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. At this point, some of you know me as the “man in armour”.
I have been a member of Medieval Society for now four years, and I have been part of the committee for three, successively taking the roles of Welfare Officer, Treasurer, and President.
I have always been passionate about the medieval times and especially in the aspect of the material culture especially in the field of war engineering: How did people dress up for war? What were the materials used? I also do armours and simple metal smithing during the summer with very limited tools and budget as a hobby.
There are many questions and topics I could spend hours waffling about but there must be something to everyone with their own personal interests which is why I have a few objectives for if I am to get elected:
Collaborating with different societies both inside and outside UCL
More academic events about more varied topics
Widening the focus to other areas than Europe
Run workshop events
To this day, I keep having fun organising events that people will enjoy, and I wish I could continue this journey with you all next year!
