Medical Society: Vice President

Hi guys, I’m Afrin and I would love to be your next VP! 

I have developed a wealth of experience in running a society through my roles as Preclinical Education Chair for MedSoc and O&G Chair for SurgSoc this year, as well as several subcommittee positions in previous years, through which I have organised talks, conferences and tutorials. This has given me a thorough understanding of the logistics behind MedSoc’s activities, particularly the importance of meticulous planning, communication and flexibility in ensuring the success of any event. I am confident that this skillset will help me support MedSoc’s 19 incredible subcommittees. 

If elected, my main focus will be on fostering a collaborative and engaged community, through fun and inspiring events. 

These are just some of the ways I hope to achieve this:

• A multidisciplinary conference on the future of medicine, with a focus on research, technology, leadership and education, to inspire all medical students
• Organise more MedSoc-wide events eg Hackathon to bring together students of different year groups and interests
• Check-in meetings with subcommittee chairs to provide as much support as possible
