Raphael Kastner

Having benefitted greatly from Jsoc over the last three years (by enjoying the lunch and learns ;) ), I would like to be involved in the leadership of such an important society and pave the way for others to benefit from Jsoc, just like I have.

I recognise the important role that UCL Jsoc plays for facilitating Jewish life on campus and think that I would like to play a small role in continuing this.  I am fully aware of many of the challenges that students face and I know that students' welfare is of the upmost importance.  Jewish leadership is something that is very close to my heart and is something I have always been involved in.  From running and organising youth events at a synagogue, to working in a youth movement.   I've had a lot of experience and I'm very keen to share this with Jsoc!

If I were welfare officer, my primary aim would be to work closely with UJS and the committee to ensure the continuing wellbeing of the students and to assist in dealing with any situation if they arise.  Additionally I would support the rest of the committee in their various roles.

Thanks for reading :)

Maya Dahan

A sense of safety and belonging is the ultimate key for a healthy and thriving community, which JSOC has long been for its participants. As welfare officer, I would strive to foster a warm and open environment, in which everyone feels heard and included. A space where members can find their support system, be that from older connections, new friends or members of the committee. Through wider welfare events, like welfare brunches, to more personal initiatives, I have many ideas I hope to introduce to the society. I feel that I can be an accessible listener and offer a safe and comforting space for people to share their thoughts.

I trust my experience thus far will make me suited for this role. As Head Girl at Immanuel, my secondary school, I worked with students across the school, listening to their concerns, and providing both personal support and wider welfare support programs. As part of the Mental Health Committee and Immanuel Family Program, I arranged assemblies/ activities to provide welfare support and education to students. I greatly enjoyed working with students to cultivate a more supportive and engaging environment.

Since joining UCL this year, JSOC has been my home on campus, a place where I can find common ground and where I've met so many new friends. It is the heart and soul of Jewish life on campus, and I would be honoured to play my role and work with you all in ensuring it can continue to be a home away from home for the whole community. Thank you!

Maya Davis

As a Jewish student, now more than ever it is crucial for there to be a strong sense of community and if I am voted to be the welfare officer, I bring a deep commitment to supporting the welfare of every student. As someone who has been involved in various Jewish charities over the years, I have developed a strong passion for helping others. I wish to help foster a supportive and inclusive environment in the Jewish society, especially in a world which has become so hostile. I am a good listener, and proactive in finding solutions to problems and I really would like to ensure that every single persons voice is heard and validated. I am a strong advocate for the power of community and supporting one another through difficult times and I would only want to build upon the amazing work of the society this year.

If I am appointed for this role, I will prioritise creating initiatives to promote mental health awareness by enhancing connections with various Jewish charities. I am dedicated to making sure every member of the society feels safe, supported and cared for.

As a person who is deeply passionate about the wellbeing of the UCL Jewish society community and beyond, I am determined to make a positive impact as Welfare Officer. With my skill of empathy and organisation , I am confident I am able to serve effectively in this role and enhance the welfare provisions within the society.

Rafi Benarroch

I am nominating myself for Welfare Officer in our Jewish Society as I am driven by a profound commitment to the well-being and inclusivity of our community. I strongly believe that every member deserves support, understanding, and a sense of belonging in our Jsoc.

I would like to continue to create an environment where all members feel comfortable and safe and where no one is left behind - particularly during this difficult time for the Jewish community. My platform centres on fostering a culture of care and compassion, where individuals feel comfortable reaching out for assistance and where resources are readily available to address their needs.

I am dedicated to creating spaces for open dialogue, providing opportunities for mental health awareness, and advocating for resources to support those facing challenges. Additionally, I am committed to fostering a sense of security and unity within our society and strengthening connections with other communities on campus.

With your support, I am eager to serve as a dedicated advocate for the welfare of our Jewish Society, working to ensure that every member feels valued, supported, and safe.
