Nastya Iegorova

I’m Nastya and I’m from Kyiv. I am a 2nd year Biochemistry student. I have been part of the ucl.ua committee since it was founded, henceforth it has been my home away from home.

My love for Ukraine and my unmatched experience as part of the society have led me to applying for the role of the President. I am confident I will be valuable to this network of like-minded people, whose primary aim is to represent our country to other societies in the UK by sharing Ukrainian culture, history & traditions.

Over the 2 years, I have gained valuable experience from the committee members and developed the skills, such as responsibility and adaptability, necessary to run a society of such caliber. Overall, I co-planned and co-organised 20+ events.

As President of ucl.ua, I aspire to sustain the strong sense of community & to maintain ucl.ua as an institution of civil society on campus, that we have established over the 2 years. This role will enable me to further work on the initiatives to support Ukraine during such challenging times. I will aim for our society to integrate international students more, as I believe it is vital to share our knowledge, passion & love for Ukraine. I strive to organize collaborations with societies within & outside of UCL, introduce Ukrainian language classes and new formats of events, such as panels on renovation of Ukraine, which will not only grant you new connections, but will also allow you to discover Ukraine in all its diversity.

Slava Ukraïni!

Gleb Vedmid

Hello to my fellow Ukrainians and our international friends! I am Gleb, a second year BSc Politics & International Relations student running to be your President.

As the Russian Federation continues to terrorise our invincible land, it is vital to persist in defending our identity, culture, and values. Having served as your 2022-23 Treasurer, I fully understand the great responsibility that comes with representing Ukraine.

My priority will be to maintain our status as the best Ukrainian society in the UK. I will work with the committee to build on our past achievements and provide the ultimate experience for the members. With me in charge, the society will continue to foster a welcoming environment, providing students with many opportunities to engage with Ukrainian culture and find new friends. I will expand our cooperation with other societies in order to grow our community and offer more exciting events. I will ensure that our work supports Ukraine on the Information Front, and that we do everything possible to help our heroic defenders!

Rather than proving my competence with a lengthy list of accolades, let me simply say that I spend my free time leading an effort to suspend Russian representatives from an international organisation with 140,000+ members. You can be confident that the UCL Ukrainian Society will be in safe hands under my leadership.

The Russian invaders want to take our dreams away. Let’s work together to achieve them anyways.

Slava Ukraïni!
