Togay Ata Gokalp

As the current events coordinator of the Turkish Society, I would love to carry on the work we have achieved in the past year. Having run the freshers breakfast, donation drive and pub social with the committee, I realised that I enjoy working on such projects and would love to carry on with any plans I have for the future.

I have had events organisation experience in the past, which I have seen to be extremely useful this year. Having organised an Island wide conference for the European Youth Parliament, my highschool's graduation ceremony and many other events, I managed to see different aspects of events that need to be taken care of in order to achieve a well run event.

These were also the case during this year as the events coordinator as I managed to gain even more experience whilst meeting many people from the committee for the first time.

I plan on creating a file where every member of the society can put their thoughts and ideas for events next year. From there we will move to enact these events as soon as possible. Moreover, I have events that I plan on working towards as well, such as joint events with other Turkish Societies and the possibility of a ball that could be done in the future.

All in all, I would be extremely pleased if I was able to continue the work I am currently doing and would aim to make the Turkish Society bigger and more enjoyable for all.

Duru Yagmur Akyol

I'm Yagmur and I am thrilled to be running for the position of events officer for the Turkish Society at UCL. As a Turkish student, I believe that I can offer a unique perspective on my culture and traditions that I want to share with others. My primary goal is to organize events that will allow students to learn more about Turkey and its people. This could include cultural showcases, film screenings, talks, and more. I believe that promoting cultural exchange is an essential part of university life, and I hope to create an environment that is welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

In addition to these events, I'm particularly excited about organizing karaoke nights and socials. These events will provide an opportunity for students to relax and get to know each other outside of our academic work. Karaoke nights, in particular, can be a fun and engaging way for students to share their musical talents and showcase different genres of Turkish music. Socials, on the other hand, will allow students to socialize and build relationships with each other. I believe that these events will help to create a stronger sense of community within the Turkish Society, and attract new members who are interested in our culture and traditions. Overall, I'm excited about the prospect of serving the Turkish Society and making a positive impact on the UCL community. Çok teşekkürler!
