What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

As a woman of colour, I will ensure that women's voice is present in the decision-making within the POC network at all times. I will emphasize the intersectionality of race and gender in our society and community, so I will ensure that the interests of both women and People of Colour (POC) are present at all times within the network. I will ensure that such interests are protected all the time.

I also hope to contribute to holding events that create a bond between the members of our network, as well as the connection between race and gender.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I will bring my previous experience (2022-23) as the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) students' officer to this role. As the officer, I ensured that the interests of BME (or POC - yay!) students at UCL were represented and protected at all parts of Union decision-making. Also, based on student interest, we changed our name from BME network to POC network, which applies from this election (2023). I was so thrilled about the name changing. I am aware of how this network functions independently and within the union, so I will bring fresh experiences to this role and the network.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I value this network so much, and I am willing to continue participating in it by being on the committee. I am aware of how this network is operated and maintained, so I believe that having me on the committee will be helpful for both the network and the committee. I would love to make a further contribution to this wonderful network. Voting for me as the women students' representative would ensure that the voices of women of colour are present in union affairs.
