Election post

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Social isolation has been a struggle for many students. If elected as a Network Committee Member, I want to encourage a greater sense of community and social connection for students. I want to work with other network members to put on great events, that are both accessible and inclusive. I want to help provide students with a space that encourages comfort, security and, most importantly, fun! Events should be enjoyable and stress-relieving, in a separation from exams, work, and other life commitments.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

As a Citizens Advice volunteer, I have developed great organisation and communication skills; I help people by listening to their experiences and filling in their claim forms accordingly. I believe my skills will help me put on accessible, regular events.

I started volunteering for the National Trust when I was 17. My roles have included archaeology, gallery work, day-making and litter picking. I love being around people [and their dogs!], which being on the site allows me to do. I believe my enthusiasm will aid me in putting on fun, enjoyable events.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

If you are anything like me, your university experience so far has not been without its moments of isolation and doubt. Student life can be stressful and intimidating. I know that fun events are not going to change that entirely, but they can help alleviate some of the pressure that we are all under. That is why I want to put on accessible, enjoyable events, which run regularly throughout the year, and encourage social connections. If you vote for me, you will be giving me the opportunity to do exactly that. :)
