Thérésa Bernard

My first year at Symphony chorus is already coming to an end and I have had a great time making music with everyone. The managers created a friendly and respectful environment, appealing to singers from different backgrounds, from the more experienced to the less. I admire the hard work put in the organisation of each concerts, and how they make people feel comfortable singing together.

From helping Amy and Charlotte, I have gained greater insights into what the responsibilities of manager include. I would be delighted to be part of the Committee to continue their excellent work. My experience in choral singing has made me discover a wide range of repertoire which I would love to suggest for the upcoming concerts. This includes pieces that are less known and others that are more familiar, so that each one feels both comfortable but also challenged positively to learn a broader repertoire.

To feel a greater sense of community and enhance our performance, it would be important that each member is fully committed to rehearsals. This would make the chorus sound the best it possibly can at all times, which I have no doubt about! Finally, pub trips which we (undeniably!) all seem to enjoy should continue! Also, having an inclusive vegan and gluten-free biscuits choice could ensure that everyone enjoys the breaks as much as possible :) !

I hope these initiatives will attract as many people as possible to chorus as it is an absolute pleasure to create harmony amongst each other!

Saskia Alice Kirk

Hello everyone! I’m Saskia studying first-year History of Art, Materials and Technology.

I am delighted to be running for Symphony Chorus Manager for next year. Within first year I’ve involved myself with the Music Society as much as possible, as a member of both Symphony Chorus and Chamber Choir, as well as participating in this years Opera. Next year, I want to further involve myself on the Committee in the management of Symphony Chorus.

Choir is super important to me and believe it should be open to everyone. For me, Symphony Chorus is a place for everyone to be involved to further develop their musicality, be part of a community and to make some great music. I have had experience in assisting coordinating previous choirs I have been involved in and want to develop these skills further by managing the choir.

I have made efforts to learn from current Chorus managers Amy and Charlotte to better understand the role as well as its day-to-day involvement. I am extremely committed and an organised person and will bring these skills to the role. I am excited by the challenge of organising concerts across London for Chorus, as well as collaborating with Orchestra.

As some of you will know I never miss a Chorus Pub Social so please introduce yourself and ask me any questions about myself and what you would like from Chorus next year.
