Yuen Yeng Cheong

As the secretary of the Malaysian Society, I will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your leadership skills.  As I will be largely responsible for managing the administrative aspects of the society, including organizing meetings, taking minutes, maintaining records, and communicating with members, this will help me develop organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Furthermore, by serving as the secretary of the Malaysian Society, I will have the chance to work with people from different backgrounds and experiences, which can help me broaden my perspective and develop new relationships. Lastly, by standing as secretary for the society it will give me the opportunity to give back the joy the society has provided me with during the tumultuous experience of trying to settle down in a new country. Although not directly, I hope to help the committee create opportunities for Malaysians to foster long-lasting relationships that they can take with them, and continue our legacy as a home away from home. I also believe that I have the skill set and aptitude to be able to contribute greatly to this role, due to my past experience in various organisations.

Vanessa Tsui Ern

I am standing for the position of secretary, which involves managing administrative and publicity tasks, as I believe it is a role that I can best contribute in. Having past experience as President of the Media and Communication club and social media manager of the Student Council, I've gained valuable skills that are essential to the aspects of this role involving strong poster designing skills, strong understanding to manage tasks. Most importantly I am innovative and am constantly looking for ways to improve and innovate.

My vision is to further promote Malaysian culture along with MSoc's events while assisting Malaysians to settle down. I have a few rough ideas on how I plan to execute my vision. This includes initiating a new series on social media such as "what's cooking Wednesday" in which authentic Malaysian recipes are shared on the MSoc's social media platforms. Additionally, I aim to generate more reels to increase content such as restaurant recommendations(must visits), "73 questions with vogue" style of interview with UCL Malaysians about life in UCL/London etc.

I am especially grateful towards the Malaysian society as they've managed to make a foreign country such as London feel more like home. As an East Malaysian, I aspire to be a reliable point of contact for fellow East Malaysians in a community where there are relatively few of us. I am deeply passionate about the Malaysian society's mission and am highly determined to make the best contribution I can.

Auni Amran

Hi! I am Auni Amran and I am excited to run for MSoc’s Secretary. Being part of this amazing society has given me unforgettable experiences at UCL, and now I want to give back by serving the community that means so much to me. My aims are:

  1. Collaborate with the BODs by practicing social media strategies to promote MSoc's events
  2. Launch a TikTok account to enhance the exposure of UCL MSoc
  3. Prioritise timely and consistent communication with members
  4. Promote great external and internal opportunities
  5. Improve mentor-mentee relationships by establishing an action plan and mentoring support systems

Drawing on my past experience in high school and as a former CoachBright volunteer, I excel in refining creative presentations and designing effective publicity strategies across various mediums. With my touch typing ability, keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills, I aspire to deliver high-quality work

Furthermore, I am a team player who is always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that my colleagues are satisfied. I am always available and believe good communication is key. Whether through social media or email, I can effectively communicate with everyone! As a proactive learner, I welcome feedback and am dedicated to growth, especially for UCL MSoc.

I am certain that I am the perfect fit for this role and I am thrilled at the opportunity to contribute my skills and experience to this position. Thank you!
