Nikhil Doosa

Hi, I'm Nikhil and I am running to be Vice President of our beloved Hindu Society next year.

Having already been on the committee for a year as an FYR, I have been able to partake in the organising of a plethora of events such as Rangeela and Diwali Ball. Seeing the success and joy these events bring to the many that come has inspired me to apply for VP as I believe my behind the scenes experience coupled with my passion for the society will allow me to ensure HSOC maintains it's religious balance whilst creating life-long friendships.

Being a FYR, has allowed to meet many new people and form connections with various people across different universities, something that I think will be hugely beneficial in broadening the society. This is something I hope to develop on by ensuring family socials persist throughout the year and delving into inter-uni families across London to bring new perspectives to the society. I also hope to closely collabarate with our religious officer to ensure that religious events that may be under-represented due to their cultural popularity are given the recognition they deserve.

As I have been able to balance my position on committee with multiple musical performances and badminton matches across the year, I believe I will be a good fit for this role as I will be able to multitask, a key trait in the "jack of all trades" aspect of this role. I am confident, I can keep delivering sell-out events and propel HSOC to the next level.

Mahek Parson

Hi! My name is Mahek, I am a first year who studies Natural Sciences and would love to be your Vice President.

This year, I joined Hindu Society as an FYR, and I can confidently say that it has been one of my favourite experiences at UCL so far. From the countless messages in the group chat to planning events and the socials, the committee was very welcoming, which allowed me to be involved and understand the innerworkings of the society. This has helped me have a very good idea of how these events are structured and what makes them successful. I believe I can continue to help in organising events next year, for everyone to enjoy and create unforgettable memories.

As an FYR, I helped the committee by doing whatever was asked of me, from setting up tables for DBall, helping the acts for Rangeela and finding a venue for the afterparty. Being a ‘jack of all trades’ is crucial for being VP, and by doing such a wide range of jobs, I learnt how to be adaptable as well as how to juggle multiple jobs simultaneously.

One of the best things about Hindu Society is its diversity of events. Not only does it have partying events such as Diwali Ball but also events like Garba, which allows the essence of this society to shine. Next year, I will strive to make these events the best yet and it would be an honour to be your VP and I hope to do the position justice.
