Candidates

Darshini D Bhudia

Hi! I'm Darshini and I'm a first-year Geography student. I enjoy meeting new people and I believe I would be an effective candidate for the role of Social Secretary.

Having been a member of Hindu Society for a few months now, I have been shown the educational as well as fun aspects of the society which I would enjoy contributing to. As someone that is constantly interested in learning more about my religion, I believe I would be able to incorporate this in the events the society chooses to create. As well as this, I regularly attend my local temple and I volunteer in different temples near me when it comes to holding big events such as Diwali and Holi. As a result, I would be able to use my experiences of helping out in such events to ensure Hindu Society continue to host bigger and better events. As the role of social secretary requires leadership, creativity and communication, I believe I would be an effective candidate as I have many experiences, one of which includes me taking on the role of cultural prefect during my time at sixth form, whereby I hosted events such as a Diwali fair as well as a cultural fashion show, similar to Jalwa in Rangeela. Ultimately, having me as a social secretary for Hindu Society would ensure the growth of the society due to the exciting small-scale events we would host, whether they are for educational or fun purposes, as well as even enjoyable trademark events, such as Diwali Ball, Rangeela and Holi.

Naam Ghedia

Hey guys! I’m Naam and I am a first year currently studying Natural Sciences. I’m originally from Surrey but ethnically I am Gujurati.

I’m going for Social Secretary because I love Hindu events and planning nights out! I also love posting on social media so I would increase attraction by making sure to post events more frequently - such as weekly aartis, sports, and socials.

As well as the great socials we currently have, I plan to introduce more regular ones such as a pub crawl, a casino night, and even drinks before Saucy’s (I see half of you there). Some non-drinking event ideas I have are mini golf, mehndi night, and movie nights.

UCL Hindu Society to me is a source of so many amazing and (un)forgettable nights out and I want to continue and better these events!

Krish Chundawat

I am excited about the opportunity to develop my negotiation skills and build connections with businesses while promoting the Hindu Society at UCL. I have a strong interest in event planning and fundraising, and believe that serving as a social secretary would allow me to use these skills to benefit the society and its members. Additionally, I see this as a chance to make a meaningful impact on the society by organising events that the society hosts. Finally, I am motivated by the prospect of collaborating with other members of the society and the wider UCL community to create a vibrant and inclusive environment that celebrates Hindu culture and values.
