Hi all,

I'm running for social secretary because I want to increase our opportunities to grow as a society. As a member this yyear I've meet a bunch of amazing people through our social events, lots of which I've come to call friends, so I know how brilliant these events have been for meeting people with shared interests and passions. Without the great range of social events held throughout this year by our current committee, the society wouldn't have been able to thrive as quickly as it has.

To continue growing this still young society, I'd keep up the great work done already by the committee, but also introduce new ways to connect with interested students. I'd hold weekly trips to the pub for prospective and current members alike to rewind, as well as increasing the number of collaborations with other societies, particularly focusing on cultural/national societies to attract new members and promote the cause of language preservation. I'd also aim to have certain termly special events. for more unique activities. For example, club nights, renting Mully's for karaoke nights, or theatre trips. Other ideas for semi-regular events include foreign language film nights and quiz nights.

Logistically, I'll be on top of scheduling and maintaining a calendar of all events, contacting other societies, coordinating room bookings and working with the media officer to promote all our events.

I hope these ideas sound cool, and I'd love if you guys voted for me!

Thanks,

Michael.
