I have fallen in love with the sport of rowing, it has allowed me to channel my energy in a meaningful way. I take great inspiration from the passion emanated from the current Nov men leadership team. I would like to think I have begun to match their enthusiasm. I would relish in the challenge of building a successful squad, bringing a competitive energy to push the squad to perform well in races. The squads success this year provides me with a blueprint upon which to move forward, however, improvements can be made: I would introduce squad talks, opening up communication to inform on the criteria for crew selection, consolidate coaching points and provide a platform for transparency of the visions for the squad. I hope to encourage contribution of ideas from members to better the squad. This will foster a greater one team mentality, which I am hopefully will aid retention. I’m a hyper-organised individual, with strong time management skills. It is these qualities which allowed me to pursue leadership roles during A-levels as head student. I managed a team of 44 ambassadors, introducing sports teams and raising £8,000 for charity. I will bring the same intensity to Nov men's captain next year. I hope to provide meaningful contributions within committee to improve the boat club going into the next academic year. I'm coming into this with a genuine love for the sport and boundless enthusiasm to share my passion with others and make their Nov year as rewarding as mine has been.
