Gurveer Singh Sidhu

Hello, my name is Gurveer, your current first year rep, and I'm running for the activities officer role at BGS this year. While the role will not be the easiest, I feel like I will be up for the job as I have experience running events and being on the committee as first year rep. Furthermore, as a second year I will still have the amount of free time necessary to perform my duties as president while having gained the discipline needed for the role from my first year at uni.

The main reason I am applying for this role is that I greatly enjoyed helping on the committee during my first year and I would love to take a more direct role in organising and running events for everyone going forward. I hope that you vote for me and allow me to give back to this wonderful society that.

Ilyas Shahril Ridza

Since most of my spare time is already spent playing board games, it only makes sense to join the committee and spend even more of my time at board games.

If elected, I promise to:

- Organise interesting, never before seen special events

- Grow board games society even larger

- Lobby the rest of the committee to diversify our collection with more neglected genres

- Compensate you for your vote with a bribe (not really)

It's been great spending 3 hours a week for the last two years getting to know so many people while learning and trying so many more games at the most open, relaxed and genuinely fun niche society in UCL. And while I'm nominating myself for purely selfish, egotistical and Machiavellian reasons (not really), I'm sure when I'm elected some of that value will trickle back down to the rest of the society (definitely not really).

For many who've never tried a board game that isn't Monopoly, a collaboration event or joint games night may be their first introduction to this society and the great people and games it contains. On the whole events are great, and we should have more of them. I'm also a fan of the idea of organising society day trips to conventions, or larger festive events.

If any of that previous stuff sounded good to you, or I've already bribed you in person, be sure to vote for me.
