During my two years at UCL, being part of the Bhangra society/team has been the most uplifting and fun experience so far. It has introduced me to wonderful people and enabled me to build life-long friendships. As President of the Bhangra Society, I will provide a safe and welcoming place for people to gain likewise experiences.
I believe I am the most suitable candidate for the Presidency role due to my notable leadershiping ability. For the upcoming year I will be putting myself forward to become the Captain of the UCL Bhangra team and therefore becoming President would not only make it easier for myself but also the team.
Most Importantly I want to become President to help promote and preserve our culutre/cultural activities. I will seek to host fun and entertaining classes that not only allows people to enjoy themselves and break a sweat but also teaches them the actual dance form and the history of it.
Outside of University, I am part of a private group/team that has allowed me to perform on many occasions, in particular performing for Diljit Dosanjh and Karan Aujla on their UK tours and at several weddings. These experiences have shown me how a Bhangra team/society is run on a larger scale and this will assist me in the running of this society. Moreover, it has shown me the significance of building connections and how to build them, this has enabled me to build connections of my own in the Bhangra community which will facilitate any collaborations that are to come
Hi everyone!
I'm Jesmean, and I'm running for President of the Bhangra Society. As a first-year Politics and International Relations student, I want to create an inclusive environment for everyone to share my passion for Bhangra.
Bhangra has been a huge part of my life since I started university, allowing me to make lifelong friends and perform on stage. My experience has been incredible, and I am committed to ensuring that everyone, no matter their experience level, feels welcome and included in our society. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced Bhangra dancer, we are all here to learn together!
One of my goals is to promote our society and collaborate with other universities' Bhangra societies. Through my connections, we can take our regular classes to the next level. I plan to organize charity classes, uni-collab classes, Bhangra talks, and bring in special guests to teach us.
Additionally, I aim to organize more social events that give members the chance to bond and get to know each other. I plan to host games/movie nights, mixies, bowling/golf/paintball/ice-skating socials, and more.
I am confident that I can handle all the responsibilities that come with being the President and serve as a strong representative for the Bhangra Society. As a friendly and approachable leader, I am always open to everyone's suggestions and opinions to improve our society.
If you share my passion for Bhangra and want to see it thrive at UCL, vote for me as your next President!
