I want to push barbell further through social media with the aim to:

- Celebrate existing members (share comp recaps, big lifts, pbs, etc)

- Expand our reach, attracting new members

- Promote barbell club

- Show UCL and potential members what a friendly community we are :)

Andrew Iu King Chee

I remember coming across the Barbell Club's social media page before even stepping foot at UCL. Being blown away by the seemingly superhuman lifts that were displayed for all to see, I decided right then and there that this society was undoubtedly one to join. Today, with my keen interest in photography, filmmaking and video editing, I am ready to bolster the brand awareness of one of UCL's fastest-growing sports societies.

On top of the existing graphics that can be found on our Instagram page, I intend to also include the following:

-Cinematographic athlete showcases (Captains, Committee members, etc)

-Takeovers to areas of interest (SBD Sheffield, BUCS, etc)

-Given enough demand and engagement, a dedicated Barbell Club TikTok account will also be managed

The Barbell Club has already experienced its most explosive growth in memberships this academic year. Paired with the growing visibility and popularity of powerlifting, weightlifting and bodybuilding as disciplines, I am confident that we can capitalize on this potential with a strengthened social media presence going into the 2023/24 season.

Rufaydah Asim

I would like to run as media and marketing officer for Barbell club because in the short time that I have been a member, I know how important the society's platforms are to keeping members up to date on events in the society. I am passionate about social media and the society and making sure that everyone is engaged and knows what is happening within the society

I understand how algorithms work and what I would need to do in order to reach the target audience to get as many people involved as possible. I enjoy creating and curating content for various social media platforms and I understand that this is a role that requires me to bring maximum effort in order to gain the best results and that is something that I am more than willing to do.
