Asian Social Network Society: Publicity Officer

Hi! I’m Sandali and I'm running for Publicity Officer in the hopes of bringing more people into this society and to grow this community further. ASN has been a safe place for me this past year and I've had the opportunity to meet many incredible and lovely people and hope to allow more people to have the same experience I did.

As Publicity Officer, I will work alongside my fellow Publicity Officer and Social Secretary to lend a hand in events planning and organisation. I'll be responsible for designing posts and managing the society's social media. I hope to maintain the inclusive atmosphere of the society and sense of community by developing these further such as using our Discord more and opening a TikTok page. In the next year, I also hope to design ASN merchandise, specifically clothing, to truly represent and unify our members. 

My experience as Catering Officer in CPS has helped me develop my organisation, teamwork and communication skills necessary to step up for this role. I'm self taught in graphic design and am competent in programs such as photoshop. This allowed me to accomplish things such as winning a logo competition for the RSC and to design my school's poetry booklet. I wish to continue to show my digital creativity and also to use all the social media platforms to bring the community together virtually and in-person.

Hi ! I'm Jenny, a 2nd year Classical Archaeology student. Growing up with a Chinese family in the North of England, I have spent much of my life unsure of my identity and insecure about myself. However, at UCL, I have found a society of welcoming and kind people through ASN and I am nominating myself for publicity officer in the hopes of ensuring the connection of the society, through advertising and merchandise, both within the society itself and towards the rest of UCL.

As someone who spends an embarrassing amount of time on Discord and Instagram, designing graphics, running the ASN social media and posting about all the events that are held is just another aspect of the role which I would be delighted to take part in. Plus, the Instagram for ASN is largely the reason I was made aware of the events for ASN this year so I hope to be part of the process for building the relationship between the society and its members.

I hope to, with the input of the society, create custom ASN merch such as bucket hats, hoodies and totes as well as grow the Instagram page by creating Instagram exclusive videos and filters and possibly even open an ASN TikTok page where you can all participate!
