I enjoy the freedom that comes with being creative, where you are able to make something from scratch and watch things develop. I believe that all forms of art are a platform for human expression and since I was younger I have been involved in many creative aspects from school plays to starting a school magazine in Sixth Form. My involvement in this year’s Panafrik has furthered my passion for the arts, from creating spoken word to being Tech Coordinator, where I was creating and developing different types of media for the promotion. Through this I have discovered a passion for showing people the different sides of Afro-Caribbean culture, from diaspora to those who were born and raised in those countries. And so my experiences have led me to want to expand this further and find more ways to encompass the feelings and livelihoods of our culture. Since the African and Caribbean Society has given me the opportunity to explore more forms of expression, I wish to add more to the community that we have created, so that everyone can be truly represented and express themselves and thus hopefully slowly dismantle the idea that the African and Caribbean Society is only for certain types of Africans.
