United Nations Association: Training Officer

Hi all,

I’m Milo and I'm in my first year!

Since arriving at UCL, I’ve actively attended UCLUNA training sessions and MUN conferences because, like for so many of us, MUN offers something unique: the opportunity to debate pressing issues while representing competing cultural viewpoints and being able to offer solutions.

Having attended the training sessions and MUN conferences, I am excited to help in improving the central component of our membership services: training. Maximising the returns of membership  is crucial to being a useful society committee officer. I aim to prioritise the following goals:

• Diversifying the content of our training sessions to involve more controversial topics of global importance
• Increasing training in specialised committees like crisis, NATO and the UNSC
• Allowing members more time to prepare their positions for simulation MUNs
• Ensuring members can experience full simulation MUNs by consistently getting through to the final stage of draft resolutions and substantive votes 
• Offering members the chance to represent the widest array of countries from all continents
• Surveying members to adapt to your concerns

I am also excited to work with other committee members to complement our training sessions with guest speakers, panels of academics, and networking opportunities.
