I am approachable, enthusiastic, and have great communication and chat ;) Since joining RUMS Tennis, I have been devoted to both the squad and social aspects. I have been to every training session (even when I was the only woman there), most social events (including 24 hour tennis, big up Kevin) and most sportsnights (RIP my liver); I plan to be even more committed next year. I hope to lead by example by setting a high standard of commitment. I aim to build a close-knit, committed team and work well with others in committee to lead our team through a successful and fun year (good vibes only).

My aims will include:

  • Ensuring we have a team of women who come to training regularly and play matches together for consistency within the squad: I hope this will improve performance and foster good team spirit - I would make a Facebook group to gauge availability with polls ahead of time
  • Nurturing an inviting environment for all freshers next year, sharing my experiences of different clubs, and advising them on which to join (Tennis)
  • Opportunities for the women in the squad to socialise and integrate more with those who play more socially/ LUSL by organising some events (including those unrelated to alcohol, thank me later welfare)
  • Designing kit for the teams to wear in BUCS matches and continuing to write factually accurate match reports

I would highly value the opportunity to lead a driven women’s team and know I will give the club my all if elected!

RUMS tennis has been a massive part of my medical school experience and through it I’ve formed great friendships and memories. The club is one of the closest knit groups I’ve seen, and all the members have always been so welcoming, kind and friendly to me and I want to continue this legacy. I’m very keen to work with the women’s team in training and improve our games and matches while creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere to relieve team members from the stresses of medical school. As captain, I will make sure that training sessions are helpful for all and every team member is well supported, listened to and has someone that they can reach out to at any time. Additionally, I would like to increase the number of members in the club by introducing some beginner training sessions for people who want to start learning tennis and some friendly inter-RUMS tennis competitions, especially for members who aren’t part of the BUCS/LUSL teams. Along with that, I want to set up more matches and socials between medical schools in London during term time as many players are not available to play in the summer and miss out on opportunities to interact with tennis players from other medical schools.
