Tennis Club (RUMS): Publicity and Alumni Officer

When I applied as a social sec last year, I wasn’t aware that one of the responsibilities was to create weekly Instagram posts to advertise sportsnight. Well that’s because it wasn’t….(sorry Charlie but very poor effort from you on the publicity front). However, saying this, it is something I actually really enjoyed, providing me with a bit of a creative outlet!! This, combined with my experience of running the UCL ophthalmology Instagram (cheeky plug @ophthal.ucl), means that I feel well prepared to undertake the role of Publicity & Alumni officer.

I have lots of ideas for next year that I believe will not only benefit our current members but also help to increase subscription to RUMS Tennis (something we are very much in need of!). This includes:

• Increasing follower engagement on the Instagram - more regular posts for example meet the committee, tennis fun facts and quizzes on stories.
• A weekly newsletter or Instagram post with a roundup of notable recent events - this will include match reports as I know a lot of time is spent writing these and often they get buried amongst other posts on Facebook meaning they don’t get the limelight they deserve!
• Providing timeline of social and charity events each month so people can plan in advance.
