Rohit Ramachandran

Due to a slight love for tennis matches and a large influence from Oliver to have anyone succeed him, I have decided to put myself forward for LUSL captain next year.

Having played in the team this year, I am aware of the great burden it is and I am willing to make the necessary sacrifices for the cause. These include standing in the cold each week to hit a ball to someone who learnt tennis last week (fyi this does not mean I win) and also not being taken seriously as another captain by those in BUCS.

Although I cannot promise great success or victory (though I will damn try), I can promise match reports and pub visits after matches (subject on if the opposition are ‘nice’). I would also want to create a permanent LUSL team that plays each week so that we can actually beat Bart’s 3’s as we should each time.

I would like to take a brief mention to thank Oliver for his time as captain and rest assured that his focus on volleying and general good doubles play will not be forgotten in the LUSL squad. Furthermore, I would like to explore the possibility of starting a proper LUSL training session to hone our skills before each match. I think with the players we have, we could aspire to do more!

But yes. For those of you who got this far, just know that I’m not relying on being the best candidate by any means, rather just being one of the only to actually apply for such a prestigious role in the RUMS tennis committee.

Rohit :))
