Marimo Rossiter

I’m Marimo, and I’m excited to bring a dynamic, vibrant and enthusiastic new face to the SurgSoc committee in 2022 ?.

My fascination in Urology started when I shadowed various laparoscopic paediatric urology surgeries in year 12. As the Urology Chair, I will pioneer a multitude of new programmes to help inspire and motivate the next generation of Urologists!

I have extensive experience collaborating with a team and organising events in both the UCL Surgical Society as a Year 2 Lead for the Education Subcommittee, and as Preclinical Rep of UCL WinS. I am part of multiple research programmes in Urology at the University of Bristol and UCL, from which I have acquired strong reliability and leadership skills. Through utilising the vast network of contacts that I have gained here and more that I will obtain through my Surgical Sciences iBSc next year, I will endeavour to create a rich programme of events featuring world-leading urologists.

My aims as Urology Chair: ?

• Spearhead a robotics-focused lecture series on urology
• Set up a UCL Urology Subcommittee Instagram page, including:
  • Urologist Instagram takeover days
  • Research opportunities in urology
  • Fun quizzes on all things urology!
• Collaborate with other university surgical societies to organise a joint Urology Enrichment Day, with opportunities in networking and presentations
• Develop a tutorial series on urology-specific anatomy, with clinical applications as the prime focus
