Salam all! I'm Farah, a second year Law student. My experience as SJP’s Gen-Sec this year has given me insight into the Society’s values, objectives and long-term goals we began working towards this year, which I hope I can use my knowledge and zeal to continue progressing towards in the next year, as VP.

Organising events such as relating to Amnesty’s Report on Israeli Apartheid, as well as the Israeli Apartheid Week vigil to commemorate Palestinian martyrs, has allowed me to gain knowledge on how to engage new and veteran supporters of the cause alike in developments in the struggle for Palestinian liberation. As VP, I would continue with such initiatives, to shed light on the history of the Palestinian struggle, as well as recent developments which SJP members may capitalise on to create momentum around the cause and forge change.

My experience on the executive committee has also allowed me to learn from co-committee members’ effective conflict resolution and communication skills employed with society members, and UCL staff. I am keen to employ such skills to aid our committee in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment, fostering respectful, open discussions in which members, staff and non-member students may ask questions, provide insight into their own experiences and voice their views on various aspects of our activism and the Palestinian cause as a whole, enabling us to build a strong, unified front against Israeli Apartheid, at UCL.
