Stage Crew Society: Garage Theatre Manager

Hey, I'm Sage (they/them) and I'm a Biomedical Sciences student. I’m running for Garage Theatre Manager because even though I’ve only been involved with Stage Crew since September, I’ve already learnt so much and would love to take on more responsibility as a member of the committee.

So far, I have been involved in Machinal, Freshers’ Dance showcase, Drama Soc Pride showcase, My Land’s Shore and UCL Gayo Daejeon. I am also the Sound Designer for the upcoming Dance Soc ‘Power’ showcase.

I’ve also participated in Stage Crew’s only Garage Theatre show so far this year - the Drama Soc New Writing Festival at Camden People’s Theatre - as a producer and actor so I feel that I have some insight into the scale and requirements of such shows.

My aim would be to encourage more bids for the slots that are available for Garage shows each term. As well as being a lot of fun, having more of these shows would be a great, more accessible way for members with less experience, or not enough time to commit to a Blooms show, to gain experience with a smaller crew in a lower pressure setting. 

I am friendly and approachable, as well as reliable and well-organised. Anyone who has worked in a team with me before will know how much I love a good Google Sheet ;)

Hello everyone!! My name is Amaani, and I am a second year biological sciences student at UCL hoping to be your garage manager (:

After an amazing bounce back from a covid-ridden year, we are now able to have garage shows, and I would be honoured and grateful to assist others in producing their art. Having been vice president last year, I gained many valuable lessons and insight that I aim to build upon in the future.

If elected, I shall strive to:

- Ensure that there are equal opportunities for artists regardless of background or experience.

- More collaborations with different societies to produce more smaller shows, including but not limited to cultural shows.

- Accessible, regular workshops for students who are interested in learning more about theatre technology.
