Kelly Hooy

Having personally enjoyed many events and initiatives organised by UCL Singapore Society, I have decided to run for the role of Sponsorships Director as I would like to be a part of the society's efforts in creating an equally incredible experience for the next academic year to come. In order to ensure that the society continues to thrive, I believe that developing, maintaining and implementing an effective sponsorship plan is essential. Through my experience as a student consultant under 180 Degrees Consulting, I have cultivated useful skills in sponsor outreach, deploying engagement strategies and managing sponsor relations, which will inform my approach to this role in UCL Singapore Society.

Kuangyi Yu

Hi everyone!

I’m Kuangyi - a first-year doing HPE!

To me, the significance of sponsorships goes both ways - ensuring our society has sufficient funds to continue our flagship events, but also bridging the gap between firms and members.

A junior committee member at UCLSS - this experience provided me with insights into the process of securing partnerships with various organisations. Through my experiences at UCL, high school, and NYC projects, I’ve reached out to diverse stakeholders, like social enterprises, government agencies, startups - drafting and negotiating proposals with their teams.

As your Sponsorships Director, I strive to:

  1. Work with our current sponsors, empathise with their specific needs, and better understand how our society can work with them
  2. Collaborate with up and coming enterprises in the UK and SG especially sponsors with varied expertise - e.g. law/pharmaceutical firms, FMCGs, which allows students to explore more career options
  3. Be the connection between students and firms by organising events, like CV/interview workshops; while there is a myriad of such events in the market, I hope organising it through UCLSS provides us an equal shot of gaining a better understanding of careers we’re hoping to embark on and to be noticed in the initial stages of career applications

If any of the above resonates, I will be incredibly thankful if you could lend me your vote!

Thank you for taking the time to read through my manifesto.
