Hi, my name is Ginny and I would like to run for Outreach Officer. I have really enjoyed my first year with Sexpression and would like to give back by supporting the society with its outreach to its members.

The first thing I noticed about Sexpression was its warm and friendly atmosphere. I would hope to facilitate this by creating weekly newsletters. These would be aimed not only at building and strengthening the Sexpression community, but also promoting our shared interest and value of sex education, with topical news stories, facts and pop culture segments.

As I strongly value the efforts and importance of Sexpression, I would be active in advertising it as a society. Having created and organised events when I was Head Girl at school, I understand the importance of publicising events in order to broaden their support and membership. I think this could help spread Sexpression’s aims and values.

In order to nurture Sexpression’s strong stance on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, I would hope to provide space for discussions about these issues, through my role as Outreach Officer; I would focus on gaining members’ support and participation in such issues. This could be by helping to organise events where people discuss concerns, distributing surveys or by designing a virtual space on the newsletter concerned with these issues.

I would hope to be a friendly, organised and active Outreach Officer, should I be elected!

Hannah Mildner

During my time as social media officer for Sexpression, I was able to see firsthand how important community is to our members. Joining a group of strangers to volunteer can be daunting - especially when broaching the topics Sexpression teaches about - but it can also be incredibly rewarding, not only because it results in substantial change, but also because it provides the opportunity to find like-minded, passionate friends. As outreach officer, I would strive to foster a sense of community among members by supporting our events lead, and maintaining strong, open, and two-way communication with our members.

Additionally, while Sexpression is above all a volunteering charity, our branch has also been moving towards become more social. I would aim to continue this, using my strong organisational skills and developing external relations skills to encourage collaborative events with other societies, charities, and potentially other Sexpression branches.

Overall, I'm enthusiastic about and dedicated to Sexpression's work. I've really enjoyed developing my communication skills as social media officer, and would love to apply them as outreach officer in the coming year.
