Russian Society: Welfare Officer

Hey, my name is Maria! As a welfare officer, my aim would be to provide a safe and comfortable environment for every member of society.

My sincere interest in human psychology will help me find a common language with individual participants making sure everyone feels important and valued in the community of the Russian Society. Supported by a STEM major and working as a research assistant in a neurobehavioral study, I will be able to use my skills and scientific knowledge to provide support to each member. 

I am a very empathetic person that used to be shy so I can understand and relate to the feeling of discomfort when people move to a new environment. During Welcome Week, I am planning to suggest several icebreaking events that will help both freshers and previous members of the society meet new people in an easy and natural way. 

To make sure everyone feels safe and enjoyable, I will create polls and anonymous forms on social media and group chats where people could write about their concerns and suggestions on future events. My main goal is to make the society more cohesive and friendly avoiding conflicts and helping members feel inclusive and engaged!
