We have a lovely and supportive community at PES, and I would love to continue to foster this by running for Welfare Officer in the coming year. While it is crucial to ensure that our socials and events are fun and educational, it is of utmost importance to look after our members' well-being so that we can all thrive in a safe and inclusive environment. As your prospective Welfare Officer, I aim to:

    1) Be the point of contact for any concerns and worries that you might have. I will just be one call/text away! No discriminatory behaviours will be tolerated and they will be dealt with in serious manners.
    2) Ensure that our ranges of socials and events are inclusive. I will make sure that these events are held in a friendly and stress-free environment with no judgement.
    3) Introduce more posts on social media or sessions related to self-help (e.g., ways to cope with stress, how to look after our mental health etc). I will work closely with the committee to ensure that there is always helpful information available for you.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and I hope that you will trust me with this role. I will ensure that your well-being is prioritized and that everyone feels welcomed and included in this close-knitted community.

Isil Bastug

Hi everyone! I am Işıl from Turkey. As a first year Psychology with Education student, I have really enjoyed my time in PES. With its events in the beginning of the year, it offered me a warm welcome to this lovely community. It has been a great opportunity for me to initiate friendships with people from my own degree and as well as others. I have had a chance to share my ideas and learn from other people with various interests. I have been also informed about other events that might be an interest for me, thanks to our amazing members. All of these have improved my experience as a first year international student and contributed to my well-being because I was really happy to be a part of this beautiful society. Thank you so much to everyone who has been a part of this experience! Now, I would like to do my best to make sure that you are getting the best out of your experience in our society as well. As a welfare officer, I will always care about your health and well-being, support you whenever you need it and consider any suggestions that may improve your experience as member of our society. I hope you find me suitable for this position. Thank you!
