Eoin P Mulholland

Hi everyone! My name is Eoin – the cooler, but admittedly more complicated Irish version of Owen! I would describe myself as a golden retriever – incredibly positive, laidback, and perhaps occasionally silly.

I am running for Events Coordinator. Like many of you, I aspire to have a career in psychology. Through trying to build up my experience and understanding of the field, I have been fortunate enough to work and volunteer in a variety of settings, such as a prison (and subsequently a prison charity and graduate scheme!), youth centres and currently as a research assistant. Through these roles, I have built up a network, many of whom will be keen to join us for events, such as Unlocked Graduates. I have also helped co-create numerous workshops and liaised with all kinds of people in different fields.

While all of the academic and career stuff is important – we’re all here to socialise and enjoy ourselves! I aim to strike a good balance between the academic and fun side of university. When I first considered running for a position in a society, there were endless potential events that came to mind – bowling & karaoke nights, or even an IOE Ball / Formal. All of these really excite me and I hope I will be able to help them come to fruition!

I love the potential of the society. If elected, I will strive to create an inclusive society for all – one where academia, careers and having fun hold equal importance. Thank you for your time and consideration!

The events organised by the society were by far my favourite this year. As a Psychology with Education student, I think it is important to have the space to engage with ideas that are relevant to our degree programme. The same is also true for students on other programmes. Both psychology and education are integral parts of our day-to-day lives and play a significant role in helping us understand how the world around us is shaped and how it shapes us in turn. I already have many event ideas that can offer a fun and welcoming atmosphere but also create a difference in the student experience. I think a balance of social events related to the society's themes and academic events will make the most difference in student lives and continue the amazing work that is already being done by the current committee. The society has enhanced my university experience and I would love to use the passion and dedication I have for both education and psychology to improve other students' experience.
