Before all thank you for this opportunity. The reason for my enthusiasm to be a part of the UCL Photo Society committee as a welfare officer is, besides my interest in photography I am a first-year student who had to deal with the stress and anxiety of deadlines, exams, and projects not long ago. My fresh experience according to coping with concerns would be beneficial for my peers in the society. Moreover, I consider myself an open-minded and agreeable person. I always try to understand before judging and have a huge capability of empathy. Besides, I had the chance to travel a lot while growing up thus enrolled in various cultures and learning to accept their ideas and beliefs. I assume that this quality of mine would make it easier to have a conversation considering UCL’s diversity of students. Truly looking forward to being a part of this amazing committee.

Hi all, I’m Alice, a fourth-year medical student, and I am honoured to be running for PhotoSoc Welfare Officer 2022/23.
I have been a keen member of PhotoSoc since joining early 2021 and have found photography to be a supremely enjoyable hobby that is perfect for winding down.
I feel truly grateful to have been welcomed with open arms into this wonderful society, making many a fabulous friend, and would love for more students to be aware of the endearing social side of this society; in addition to its brilliant photo-walks and workshops.
My aims for Welfare Officer next year include:
- Increase awareness of the support services available at UCL, some of which I have previously made use of myself.
- Organise specific welfare-orientated events to further strengthen our camaraderie, from a pottery painting workshop to a yoga mixer to coffee socials.
- Liaise with the Social Secretary to organise more social events, such as a Christmas dinner, picnic at Primrose Hill or end-of-year formal event.
- Work in conjunction with the Communications Officer to encourage further reach of both the society and topics pertinent to ensuring wellbeing on our social media pages.
- Fundraise for important wellbeing charities like Mind, CALM and Black Minds Matter.
It would be a great privilege to support the wonderful community at PhotoSoc, thank you!
