Musical Theatre Society: Technical Officer

Hi! My name is Maya Khurana and I'm a first year student studying History and Philosophy of Science. As a member of both stage crew and Musical Theatre Soc, I worked as assistant stage manager for My Lands Shore, and am excited about the prospect of working with both societies in the coming year to help ensure that shows continue to run smoothly! Having worked stagecrew for a Bloomsbury show previously, I already have the mandatory health and safety training required to work Blooms shows, and I look forward to continue to attend trainings to learn more about how to support the society through trainings in the future. 

As I am apparently unable to think of more interesting things to say about myself, here are a couple musical fun facts about me! 

• My favourite musical is Hadestown (to the point where I have managed to sneak it into my argument for a school presentation once)
  • My forever favourite flex will be that I have an Instagram post that was liked by their official account!
• I once read Les Mis for fun just because I love the show so much (which lead to developing an in-depth knowledge of the Paris sewer system and the Battle of Waterloo)

Hi everyone! I’m Angie (they/them), and this year I’ve worked on RENT as an assistant producer, and with crew as production manager for My Land’s Shore. I was also Fresher’ Representative, and I am immensely grateful for the experience and support I’ve received.

The musical theatre community at UCL is full breathtakingly talented people, and I’ve witnessed this firsthand at our amazing galas, auditions and shows. This has inspired me to participate more in our society, hence why I'm running as Technical Officer.

In the coming year, I’d like to run as Tech Officer to support you all on your performing and creative journeys. I will be working to ensure our open mics and various performances go smoothly with efficient tech setups. I will also work with Stage Crew (of which I am also a member) closely for support on our larger events. I aim to strengthen our society’s relationship with Stage Crew, as they provide invaluable support on our big Bloomsbury Theatre musicals. I’ve worked on a number of shows as crew, including our Freshers’ Musical, My Land’s Shore, and recently the Disney Gala - and more from other societies (like Rhapsody!).

I am well prepared to take on the role of Tech Officer, and I hope you lend me your support as we work together to reach new heights in the coming year!

I'm Aaditya and I am running to be your Technical Officer for next year. I am in the Stage Crew Society as well and have worked on Musical Theatre productions from the tech side, so I am well-versed in organising and running the technical side of events. As tech officer, I will make sure that there is clear communication between Musical Theatre and Stage Crew so that tech is present and runs smoothly for all shows and events. If elected, I will also work with Stage Crew to make sure crews are selected for all events/shows as early as possible so that shows and events can discuss and decide technical requirements for shows from early on in the rehearsals.
