Music Society: Welfare and Volunteering Officer

I am running for the position of volunteering and welfare officer because I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent with the music society this year as member of the orchestra and string orchestra; I would be committed to helping to keep the music society as welcoming and friendly a place as I have found it myself! I have previously worked within a ‘buddy system’, and as someone who was extremely nervous about coming to university myself I would like to be able to support those with issues or difficulties, or who maybe would just like someone to talk to.

Furthermore, I am keen about sharing my passion for music with the wider community. I have previously worked to organise performances at Christmas events and Sunday afternoon tea parties for older people, which I have found extremely rewarding, as well as performing at school functions as a music scholar. Hopefully, with Covid- 19 restrictions (fingers crossed) eased next year, this is something that I would like to be able to organise also here in London.
