Charis Smith

Hi I’m Charis and I’m a 2nd year medical student. I have been attending both the general and paediatric specific Medical Society events for the last two years. I have really enjoyed them and have lots of ideas of my own to provide more access into the world of paediatric medicine such as arranging talks on current paediatric research and how to approach a paediatric consultation. Next year I will be doing my iBSc in Paediatrics and Child health and I would love to have the opportunity to pursue my passion in this as well as support others. If elected, I hope to work to establish links with paediatric charities to open up volunteering opportunities. For example, I have previously fundraised for Dreamflight, a charity supporting children with a serious illness or disability, and this was an incredibly rewarding experience that I would be thrilled to share with others! I have also previously arranged speakers including The Royal Flying Doctor Service and have been in contact with the David Nott Foundation. I have committee experience from RUMSBC last year, working alongside others to coordinate events and organise the club, so I have developed my time management and motivation and I would work well with the rest of the committee. I aim to apply these skills to put on some great events and get people involved. Feel free to message me if you have any questions and I can’t wait to be involved with Medical Society next year!
