Arianna Rose Aznor Rizwan

Hi! My name is Arianna Rose, I'm a first year Mech Eng student and I am running for the role of MSoc’s Secretary. I had an enjoyable time with MSoc this year and I hope to offer the same positive experience to freshers and seniors next year. The main aims I plan to achieve are:

  1. More mentor-mentee interactions through events/ socials.
  2. Increase participation & awareness of MSoc & RD events by creating engaging publicity materials, posting early on & multiple promotions on existing platforms.
  3. Keep the website up to date by posting pics, vids & info on the website
  4. Maintain positive relationships with other BODs by working closely and providing support when needed.

I have great experience in managing event details, creating publicity materials and working in teams throughout my time at school and opportunities offered by MSoc such as the RD programme and Mnight’s Stage Crew & Publicity Team.

I am reliable, organised and experienced in poster designing. I am also an avid learner hence I can quickly familiarise myself with the existing promotional platforms. I am excited for what next year holds for MSoc and I hope to be part of the team that offers many amazing opportunities to the members.

I have full confidence that I will deliver the responsibilities of this role to an excellent standard and that I am the most suitable candidate for next year's MSoc Secretary.

Thank you!

Johannen Hii De Sheng

To me, the Malaysian Society is a home away from home. That's why the opportunity to contribute to and build this community is an exciting one for me.

In particular, I'm choosing to run for secretary because I've always enjoyed and excelled in roles that emphasise organizational skills and management. In the past, I participated in the Malaysian Society's Representative Director Program as a secretary as well, and contributed actively towards event planning; acting as a key point of contact between the Organizing Chairman and the rest of the team.

However, my personal passions and motivations lie heavily in the areas of volunteering and charity. In the past, Malaysian Society Events have tackled mental health and raised money for charities and fundraisers. This particular role of secretary and community outreach director therefore really excites me.

All in all, I want to do my best for this society and help it grow, thrive, and continue to provide an amazing home for Malaysians in UCL.

Coralina Liew

I strive to promote a greater sense of community among all MSoc members, Malaysian or not! While normal secretarial duties will entail managing MSoc's social media, email, and administrative documents, I plan to go above and beyond in 3 ways:

1. Revamping MSoc's official website: Creating a central platform for students to learn about the programmes we run and the values we uphold. This includes streamlining its design, publishing upcoming event info, and contributing to a brand new blog section
2. Launching a new flagship event: the #MSocWrapped end-of-year social that celebrates our BOD and members. Alongside the Events Director, we plan to collect data on attendance and engagement rates for future MSoc events, to be presented awards-style in recognition of everyone's efforts
3. Compiling resources for Malaysians: The new website blog will provide peer-to-peer support for incoming first-years, Malaysian food recommendations around London, and general uni life tips

Qualifications I can bring to this role include:

- 2 years of digital marketing and content writing expertise for websites + social media
- Designing the show logo, merch, e-tickets, and banners for UCL MNight '22
- Adobe Photoshop proficiency
- Past leadership experience as core committee of multiple student societies

If you're hoping for more diverse events, greater peer support and a wealth of resources for all things Malaysian culture, I am ready to serve as your Secretarial Director!
