Junwin Chan

I am a highly motivated, result-oriented individual, willing to go an extra mile to reach goals and learn along the way. I am keen on running as Corporate Relations Director as I believe that my experience will come in handy with the responsibilities held by the role. For instance, one of the responsibilities is Corporate Relations Director works with the President to handle matters that are related to affiliates, sponsors, and career opportunities. With the advantage of my teamwork and communication skills gained from broad working experiences in various field and wide connections with my previous employers, I believe I can utilize them when I’m dealing matters involving external relationships between the sponsors and the club. Furthermore, I worked as a Part-time retail sales associate and gained marketing and persuasion skills that I can practice it when I’m marketing the society to potential sponsors. Besides that, when coordinating career and sponsor related events, I can apply the leadership and collaboration skills I gained when I held the role as President for Chess Club in my high school as I did organise several events at school level. Being a Corporate Relations Director, I believe that I would be able to build and further expand my connections with the companies and sponsors which would highly boost me to advance in my career as Tim Sanders’ popular saying goes, networking is your net worth.

Jivan Zhen Thiru

My name is Jivan and I’m a first-year student. I am running for Corporate Relations Director. The MSoc community is one that has given me a sense of home amidst the chaos of starting my first year. I am running for this position as I am thankful for the support and would like to help play my part for incoming Malaysian students at UCL.

I believe that I am best suited for this role as this is an area I have previous experience in. I have held roles in the 24 Hour Race ranging such as Partnership Manager, which involved contacting businesses to discuss potential sponsorship opportunities and funding. Having done this during a pandemic, I have learnt how to be resourceful and adaptable, especially with contingency planning. Having also held other leadership roles for various other events, I believe I have the necessary capabilities to work with both new sponsors and to maintain current relationships.

As Corporate Relations Director, I will aim to build upon current sponsor relations, while also targeting new sponsors and introducing more inclusive events. Through directly contacting companies, I hope to be able to secure more funding for MSoc members to be able to enjoy more socials. As a student studying an essay-based course, the Malaysian job market can seem daunting. Thus I hope to have more events specifically for those who study art-related subjects.

I appreciate the time you’ve taken to read this and will do my best. Thank you!
